Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Etching Inks are specially designed for intaglio printmaking, in which the ink is applied to etched lines and recesses in the printing plate (rather than relief printmaking in which the ink is applied to the uncut relief surfaces). The ink is oil-based but water-miscible and clean-up can be done with baby wipes or soap and water.
 
For use with a printing press (see our tiny press), etching plates (see our zinc and rhenalon plates), an etching needle, and dampened printmaking paper.
